ASA does one thing - Soccer.  We run programs year round and create opportunities Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.  We don't get confused about what our two priorities are:  Kids and "the beautiful game."  Please take a moment to get familiar with how we are organized.

  SUMMARY

  •     Seasons run from mid-March through early June for Spring and mid-September through early November for Fall for Rec (Mini-Strikers, Clinic, Juniors, Seniors and Intramural) games.  County (AAYSL) games start in early March adn early September on dates determined by Anne Arundel County.  Practices usually begin several weeks earlier after Back To Soccer day.
  •    Back to Soccer Day is held in early March and early September.  This meeting is for coaches to meet team players and get organized.  Players typically are not assigned teams until this day.  The meeting is encouraged, but not required and families should be contacted by coaches within 3 days of the meeting.
  •    Costs are $60 per player to register for both Rec and County.  Rec registration includes cost of uniform, which you keep.  Travel registration is worked through teams and is partly based on league, club and state fees as appropriate.
  •    Practices for Rec teams are generally on M/W or T/TH schedules and are decided by the teams.  You may request to avoid a specific day if there is a conflict.  Practices for County teams are set by the team.  Practice times generally start around 5:30 but are determined by coaches of each team.  Locations generally are in the Odenton area, but some teams may request Millersville, Crofton or other nearby locations.
  •    Registrations are on-line, by mail, or by walk-up.  ASA holds 4 to 5 walk-ups each season at Waugh Chapel Elemntary, Chick-Fil-A at Villages at Waugh Chapel, or other announced locations.  Walk-ups are announced on the website.
  •    The Mini-Striker U4 program will practice T/TH at Arundel Middle School at approximately 5:30.
  •    Uniforms are included in the cost of all Rec program ages.  County uniforms are purchased through the team.

  •   All registered families with current email addresses will receive email with updates regarding the season in late February and late August.
  •   County registrations should be made as soon as possible.  Registration does not guarantee team placement.  Anyone registering without a current team should see the ASA tryouts page or contact Bill Gaurin, the ASA County Commissioner for information on available teams.  If registrations are made before August or February of each season, ASA will work to create new county teams to meet demand if existing teams in age group are full.
  •   Rec Games:  All Rec program games are at Arundel Middle School unless otherwise noted.  All games are played Saturday mornings starting at 9AM.
  •   County Games:  Most county league games will be Saturday afternoons in Fall 2007, unless otherwise noted by schedules.  Some age groups may vary.  County games are played at an even number of "home" and "away" fields around AA county.
  •   Travel:  All travel team player selctions and practices are determined by teams, subject to field availability.  Game schedules are determined by the appropriate leagues.

  U4 Mini-Strikers:
The Mini-Strikers Program is for younger children ages 3 to 4+ years to have fun and take the very first steps in learning soccer. Children and parents will be involved in learning through games and activities that get kids running and active, and participating with others in an age appropriate manner.  Kids practice twice per week and play one small sided 3v3 game each week to maximize their “touches” on the ball, provide the optimum number of teammates for their age, and keep them engaged and eager to play. This is not just a clinic involving a few practices.  Kids play games of soccer appropriate for their age and receive their own uniform to keep, just like their bigger siblings and neighbors.  For those new to soccer, parents receive materials and help about what to expect from their child and how the game works.  Whether it is a simple fun thing to do, a healthy way to excercise and be social, or the start of a lifelong passion, we’re ready to play!  This is an opportunity for kids and parents to have fun together!

  Recreational:
This is Arundel Soccer Association's Player Development Program. In player development we introduce players to the game of soccer with skills, clinics and small-sided games, with a focus on technical development. There are three levels that make up our recreational program - Clinic, Juniors, Seniors.  These programs are generally divided by age groups and include players aged 4 and 1/2 through 10.  Some adjustments can be made to account for skill level.  Details...  Register...

  Intramural:
ASA’s intramural program is targeted toward U11 through U18 players. It is based on a Dutch tournament format. In our variation of this format, players rotate through different teams throughout the season. No two games will have the same teams. Each player is awarded points based on the result of their game each week. Points are accumulated during the season resulting in individual scores.  Details...   Register...

  County:
ASA participates in the Anne Arundel Youth Soccer League (AAYSL) county-based league. The sponsoring organization for AAYSL is the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks.   AAYSL games are played against other athletic organizations within Anne Arundel County and the league is divided by gender  beginning at the age of 8 who want to play beyond the limits of recreational programs. In AAYSL, players are grouped by age and skill level.  Due to the roster size limits, ASA teams may hold tryouts to determine their roster. ASA is continually seeking out those players and coaches that would like to participate in AAYSL.  Details...   Tryouts...   Register...

  Travel:
The ASA Premier soccer program is a competitive level of youth soccer.  Teams are formed through a process of tryouts.  This program demands a great commitment from both players and their parents.  Premier players should expect more intense training, traveling to games and tournaments and higher team fees.  With 20 current boys and girls teams and growing, Arundel Soccer has the largest group of premier teams in Western AA County.  ASA can sponsor teams and players in the following leagues:

    Region 1 (Super Y)
Central Maryland Short Sided League (CMSSL)
Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGSL)
    National Capital Soccer League (NCSL)
    Baltimore Beltway Soccer League (BBSL)
    Maryland Premier Soccer League (MPSL)
    Central Maryland Soccer League (CMSA)
    District Development Program (DDP)
    Olympic Development Program (ODP)
